AirAsia Flight Delay Compensation

I was taking a flight to Incheon International Airport (IIA), the largest airport in South Korea, using AirAsia last two month ago and had an unpleasant flight experience.

My flight D7 506 from Kuala Lumpur to Incheon on the 11th September 2012 was delayed about 3 hours. The Scheduled Time of Departure was 0100hrs, Tuesday, 11th September 2012 but the Actual Time of Departure was 0358hrs, Tuesday, 11th September 2012. The total duration delay was 2 hours 58 minutes.

Incheon International Airport

AirAsia is very “clever” instead putting 3 hours, it official stated  2 hours 58 minutes.

There’s a huge different of 2 minutes.

I heard the announcement about the flight delay about Ten minutes before the departure at departure hall.

During the 2 hours 58 minutes delay, we were given a bottle of mineral water and a small slice of cake to fill our stomach. It was after midnight and all shop was closed. So we all just wait for the next announcement.

Even I bought a Travel Insurance from Chartis, it’s not entitle to claim for flight delay benefit. This is because the  delay must be  more than 6 hours. It pays RM 150 for every 6 consecutive hours of delay

Anyway, I’m glad that AirAsia offer RM150 Credit Shell as a compensation for the delay.

The Credit Shell is just like a cash voucher. It can be use to purchase any AirAsia X or AirAsia pre-booked products/services for the existing booking.

The Credit Shell has following term and condition:

–  It is valid for 90 days
–  Once expired, it will be locked by the system and it is not extendable
–  It is applicable for AK, FD, QZ, PQ, JW and D7 flights
–  It is transferable to any Family members or friends

I’ll use the Credit Shell for my upcoming travel plan.

Anyway, I got the flight ticket to & return Incheon International Airport (IIA) at RM800 BUT I bought it one year back.

Good deal? Smile
